SANTA MONICA, Calif. October 14, 2010 – eHow.com, a leading online destination for practical, trusted advice and know-how, today launched the new video series, From Deconstruction to Design: A Prefab Story. Hosted by environmentally conscious design professional, Zem Joaquin, From Deconstruction to Design:A Prefab Story is a five-part Web documentary that follows the journey of a pre-fab house from the design process and construction development to the showroom floor at Dwell on Design, the West Coast’s largest design event. The series uncovers and examines the trends and thinkers behind the sustainable living “re-fab” house.
Ecofabulous.com founder and editor-in-chief, Zem Joaquin, is the former eco-editor at House & Garden and Domino magazines. A certified BuildItGreen design and strategy consultant and Cradle to Cradle enthusiast, Zem assists companies and individuals in creating beautiful, smart, sustainable spaces and practices. From Deconstruction to Design: A Prefab Story starts in San Francisco, where the home is designed and moves to Austin, Texas, where the house is built with reclaimed materials, from galvanized metal to pine shiplap that were gathered from an 1830s German farm home in Texas. The final destination is Los Angeles, where the house is furnished by Ecofabulous for the Dwell on Design show and auctioned off on eBay with proceeds going to Global Green USA, a national environmental non-profit.
“I want to teach and mentor people to create beautifully designed sustainable spaces and become eco-experts in their own right,” said Joaquin. “Through my own journey into sustainability, I transformed my home into a healthy environment without sacrificing any of my own personal design aesthetics. My goal is to educate people about healthy living and inspire them to live an ecofabulous life—eHow.com allows me to share my expertise, and engage a wide, eco-aware audience.”
Keeping with the progressive living theme, on August 11, 2010, eHow.com launched Gorgeously Green, a 15-part video series. Hosted by New York Times bestselling author and green expert Sophie Uliano, Gorgeously Green shows viewers the most efficient ways to create eco-friendly products that are budget and environmentally-friendly. The series’ theme is to create products that are easy to incorporate into the everyday lifestyle of any busy woman.
“We know our community and are dedicated to providing them with high-quality, useful content that they need and want,” said Gregory Boudewijn, eHow.com’s general manager. “With over 43,000 articles and videos about green living on eHow.com, consumers can find anything and everything they need with the click of a mouse. Working with Zem Joaquin and Sophie Uliano is truly ideal as they follow green living philosophies and are able to share their knowledge and expertise with the eHow.com community.”
