Located in beautiful Santa Monica, our office is sandwiched between the ocean and the 3rd street promenade. Many of our employees take advantage of our location by shopping, eating and using the gyms that are nearby. And if that isn't enough, our 2nd Street offices have amenities such as a BBQ, Xbox, and a stocked kitchen with complimentary energy drinks, sodas, snacks, candy, yogurt and more. Not many companies have a true company hang out — owned by their CEO. Well, at Demand Media, we do! Richard Rosenblatt owns Air Conditioned, a club located in nearby Venice, where we have drinks and hold many of our company parties. We celebrate employee birthdays and anniversaries every month, giving us yet another excuse to eat ice cream, cookies or cake! And in the summer, we head just a couple blocks to the beach where we play volleyball every Tuesday after work. Featured Employee:
Day in the Life of a Product Manager by Serena BurtonA day in the life of a Product Manager at Demand Media will vary depending on the stage of the product development lifecycle. At the beginning, I’m meeting with GMs, the marketing team, and business heads to understand the goal of the project. After brainstorming, I define requirements for the product, including visual wireframes, and meet with our design and marketing teams to bring the product to life. Once designs are complete, I work with the HTML team to create the front end of the product and, later, with the development team to power all the functionality. We’ll continually review as a team and adjust the strategy and product as necessary. My daily tasks vary, but each day we try to cross more tasks off our to-do items and work towards meeting our project dates. I work with all groups in the company and constantly multi-task to meet all stakeholders needs.
