Growing Demand Blog

Powering “Travel Tips” for USA Today
Here’s the best example yet of how well Demand Media content “travels."

As Advertising Age reported yesterday, we’ve teamed up with USA Today to launch “Travel Tips,” a new section of its web site featuring content produced exclusively by our studio.

“Travel Tips” is a valuable resource for travelers searching for practical advice on thousands of topics, from the least crowded times to visit Disney World to how to score free hotel upgrades.  The section debuted with over 4,000 original articles and several episodes of the new video series “Two-Minute Travel Tips with Rolf Potts,” featuring the well-known travel expert and author.

Though we’ve previously developed content for other partners, including the Atlanta Journal Constitution, we’re particularly excited about the scope of our work with USA Today for several reasons.   First, as publications make decisions about the types of content they offer, we’re happy to be demonstrating an option that provides their audiences with a robust offering of the relevant, useful information they want, while simultaneously preserving the quality experience they expect.  We worked closely with USA Today to ensure that our own content quality standards matched up with their editorial requirements, and the articles and videos featured on “Travel Tips” were created by some of the most accomplished members of our freelance network.

Additionally, we believe that collaborations like “Travel Tips” will benefit partners like USA Today by attracting new visitors to their sites and introducing them to the marquee content offered in other sections of the publication, both online and off.  By boosting traffic and increasing time spent on site, we think “Travel Tips” is an ideal complement to the in-depth, expert travel features that have made USA Today a leading travel news source, loved by its readers.

In both instances, readers win.  And doesn’t that sound like a vacation?
