Growing Demand Blog

Our Adventurous New App
Making our content as useful as possible means anticipating how (and where) our consumers will want to enjoy it.  So for our popular outdoors website Trails.com, we thought we’d treat users to some extra adventure, and make the fun of planning their next outdoor activity more spontaneous and completely mobile.

One of the most popular features on Trails.com is the ability for fans to share photos and comments about their favorite trips and trails for others to discover and enjoy.  Now, our new Trail Finder & GPS mobile app puts that same joy of discovery right in the user’s front pocket no matter where they may be.  Available for iPhone and iPod Touch and free of charge, the app suggests great trails to explore based on your current location, meaning your new favorite bike trail or next killer hike could just be a few miles – or minutes – away.  And suggested trails cover 24 different types of activities, ranging from the extreme (rugged off-road trails or mountain biking paths) to the more relaxed (scenic drives and romantic places), so you’re likely to find the perfect new excursion to match your adventure level.

We also wanted the app to be useful once users were heading out on the trail, so we added a handful of other helpful tools like updated weather conditions, elevation level, and sunrise and sunset stats. There’s even a virtual compass to help point you in the right direction.  Plus, Trails.com members can use the app to login into the website and access 48,000 professionally created trail guides for even more detailed information.

We’re committed to making our content helpful, relevant, and easy to enjoy, and we’re pretty sure the millions of hikers and bikers who use Trails.com aren’t bringing their laptops with them on the trail.  So we’re happy to be able to provide them this new mobile app for all their next great adventures.
