Insights into Community Moderation Offerings
The world of social media moderation and management is a wonderfully complex space.  Through our Pluck platform, the Demand Media team has been honored to provide tools to organizations like the NFL, Kraft, CBC, USA Today and Southwest Airlines.  Accordingly, with services like comments, reviews, forums, photos, videos, profiles, messaging and more generating millions of social media interactions each day across our customer base, community management product features have been an ongoing and valuable investment area of the product suite.

Recently, we announced two major advancements.  The first is our extended, deepened and now independent Moderation Manager tool.  Available as a core component of the Pluck platform to all customers, the Moderation Manager represents months of heads down, customer-driven, exceptional work by the Pluck product, engineering, QA and services teams.

And we can’t thank enough the many customers who shared their insights, pain points and best practices with us along the way.  Based on their requirements and feedback, new features like flexible workflows and queues, abuse management processes, integrated spam management, additional user controls, word filter wildcarding, IP and meta-data blocking, and action reporting come together in a blazing fast and powerful system.  With keyboard shortcuts and a light weight, intuitive interface, distributed moderation teams can handle massive volumes of actions and ensure community policy enforcement.

While many Demand Media customers have built in-house community and social media teams, there is a growing trend to outsource community management services to providers with deep focus and expertise.  At Demand Media, we have experience managing our own large community properties ranging from LIVESTRONG.com to Cracked.com. However, now is the first time we’ve formally announced our Moderation Services for third party brands and publishers.
