Growing Demand Blog

A Brighter, Lighter eHow.com
If you’re one of the millions of people who visit eHow each day, you’ve probably noticed the site looks better than ever.  That’s because we’ve just updated eHow’s look and feel with a crisp, clean design update that does a great job of showing off all the useful content contained inside.  But the real beauty of eHow’s new look isn’t just skin deep.  We’ve also unveiled a ton of new features – like a new channel lineup, a vibrant new video series, and powerful new social tools – all designed to make taking on tasks even easier and more enjoyable.

First, we’ve launched new channels for six of our most popular content categories.  Now visitors can find all the answers and advice they’re looking for about Family, Food, Health, Home, Money and Style in dedicated sections filled with interesting, relevant content that’s curated by specially-assigned editors.  These new channels feature top tips and tricks from prominent experts (like TV host Erinn Valencich), quality articles and videos created in our content studio, and new blogs that are bursting with inspiration and ideas for all kinds of projects.  Our new channel structure also offers advertisers one more great way to reach eHow’s intent-driven audiences with unique sponsorship opportunities – like our first-ever seasonal channel for Back to School, sponsored by Chevrolet, packed with plenty of resources for families returning from summer break.

We’ve made video on eHow more exciting, too, by introducing the new feature seriesGrow, Cook, Eat.”  Hosted by eHow expert Willi Galloway, “Grow, Cook, Eat” teaches people how to grow their own organic produce and prepare delicious meals using those fresh ingredients.  Plus, we upgraded the viewing experience across the site with an all-new HD enabled video player that offers improved image quality for our viewers and new placement opportunities for advertising partners looking to align themselves with top quality content.

And because tackling tasks is easier with a little help from your friends, we’ve added new social features that make proposing a project or sharing your progress a snap.  The new Facebook integration simplifies eHow’s site registration and login, and allows users to see which eHow articles and videos their friends already like.  Facebook “Like” buttons and Twitter “Tweet” buttons let visitors suggest their favorite eHow content to their own friends and followers with one easy click.

While we were at it, we worked to enhance eHow’s site performance as well, making several technology improvements and removing some third party tags to lower our page load times.

We think these new changes will help make eHow even more engaging and informative.  But like many of the folks who come to eHow for advice and inspiration for completing their own day-to-day tasks, we’re always looking for our next big project, and there’s always work to be done.  So we’ll keep listening to our online community of millions of eHow users to find new ways to engage them with quality content and shared social experiences.
