2012: A New Year – A New Era For Video
As has been widely covered in the press, YouTube is embarking on a ground-breaking, $100M original programming initiative to launch over 100 new channels exclusively on the YouTube platform. As previously announced, we are partnering with YouTube to produce three of these new channels, and today, we're happy to announce the launch of two of them.

First up -- eHow Home
Acclaimed designer and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith has been named as the host of the new eHow Home Channel on YouTube and his latest project, the “Garden Home Challenge” premieres today as part of the Channel’s debut.  In addition to showcasing hours of lifestyle programming from Smith’s extensive broadcast library, the “Garden Home Challenge” follows Allen as he builds a 1,500 square foot, eco-friendly home in 150 days for just $150,000 dollars.
We’re especially excited about the “Garden Home Challenge,” because it allows us to leverage the unique power of the YouTube platform to provide daily programming to our viewers based on a single narrative idea – something we haven’t had the opportunity to do before.

Next up, LIVESTRONG Woman:
In his CES keynote, Kyncl uses yoga as an example of programming that has struggled on broadcast and cable, but has a bright future in this new YouTube ecosystem.

We agree, and that’s why we are excited to announce a new series “The Yoga Solution“ starring Tara Stiles. Named a "Yoga Rebel" by the New York Times, Tara has been featured in publications including Elle, Lucky, InStyle, Esquire, and Men's Health, and has inspired a wide audience around the world with her healthy and relatable approaches to exercise, awareness, nutrition and everyday well being.

The Yoga Solution will feature the high-quality instruction that viewers expect of our shows, and will also allow viewers to submit their own questions and problems for Tara to cover in future episodes – another way we’re using the unique YouTube platform to enhance the viewing experience.

These are just two examples of the exciting talent and programming we’ll be bringing to the YouTube platform in the year ahead. So whether you want to learn about the benefits of a greenhouse, or how yoga can be a quick fix for shoulder pain, Demand Media is at the forefront of this changing YouTube landscape.
