The bi-monthly program, running 5 minutes in length per episode, feature discussions between luminaries in the field, on siteinterviews and real life stories. “Health Matters” provides viewers with action plans including easy-to-follow guidelines and health toolspromoting healthy living and behaviors. Building Awareness Around Important Health Topics
The first episode of “Health Matters,” premiering today, focuses on sudden cardiac arrest, which results from an unexpected and abrupt loss of heart function. According to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the U.S., killing nearly 300,000 people each year. During this episode, Dr. Saxon facilitates a dialogue about the condition among experts, including Dr. Robert Vogel, Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland and Co-Chair of the NFL Subcommittee on Cardiovascular Disease, and those who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest and lived to tell the story.

A noted industry expert, Dr. Saxon has written over 75 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and is an active member of a multitude of organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the Heart Rhythm Society, The American Heart Association, and the Heart Failure Society of America. Dr. Saxon also founded the Body Computing Center at USC that works to improve the patient/physician relationship through better connectivity and information sharing. She will utilize her considerable experience to drive new tools and features on the site.
